A Wedding Day
I have a friend named Jill.
We've been friends for the past 25 years. We met the first day of third grade. It was her first day at what would be her new school and it was tasked to me to show her around. Starting then we would spend most days of our school years together. We must have logged hundreds of miles biking and walking between our two houses (which were located exactly one mile apart) and of course there was endless laughing, talking, and, yes... scheming.
In March she got married.
Even though she was technically the last in our little group to tie the knot, she's been with her wife longer than any of us have been with our spouses. They have a house, kids, a dog, a cat, and countless life experiences that have made them more bonded now than they ever have been. When they decided to take their already committed relationship and put it on paper there were lots of decisions to make. One of those decisions was to keep the wedding small and intimate. Another, I'm glad to say, was to allow me to document their beautiful day.
I don't normally do weddings, but this was such a special day and such a beautiful opportunity for me to be able to give something back to my friends. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I was so honored to be a part of it.
